PAKONE

A major figure in the Breton urban art scene, PAKONE was born in Brest in 1974.
The artist discovered and began tagging as early as 1988, before attending the Beaux-Arts in Cherbourg and becoming a professional graffiti artist. As a member of the C29 and TSF Crews, the artist contributes to the beautification of cities through mural projects. He organizes gatherings that allow him to champion graffiti as a "major movement in urban culture."
PAKONE has a refined, almost raw style, both in the treatment of his characters and his backgrounds. His work continues to evolve, with his techniques and mediums diversifying over time. The themes he explores are also varied; nevertheless, his primary intention always remains the same: "to change the world and my immediate environment, on my own scale." For him, "graffiti is a form of contemporary art expression, open to the world and free, necessary for the well-being of city dwellers."
In Brest and the surrounding area, the graffiti artist is best known for his Sakura—Japanese cherry trees with pink blossoms—which act as the "ephemeral mirror of urban art, between disappearance and rebirth." Spray-painted onto the gray walls of the city, they offer a striking contrast between femininity and masculinity, between the mineral and the vegetal.
