Trained in visual arts at the Sorbonne Paris 1 (DEA post-graduate level), Marchal Mithouard began to attract attention at auctions starting in 2009 (Millon and Cornette de Saint-Cyr). His style evolved rapidly, shaping his career through the confrontation between his background in digital arts, installation, and visual arts (drawing, painting, and sculpture). His highly recognizable, surgical graphic style reflects his interest in anatomy and architecture, which he integrates into his artistic production, asserting a dynamic, three-dimensional intention.
The body in motion is his preferred subject; he associates it with a narrative that evokes a struggling humanity—nameless, faceless, and genderless. He invites us to observe these fragmented bodies not with empathy, but as objects of study. It is an X-ray of our decadence, a raw and ruthless portrait of what we have become. Yet, it remains a fragile construction game due to the multitude of pieces that make up each body.
Marchal Mithouard's work has been regularly exhibited since 2009 in institutional venues (Grand Palais, Petit Palais, Völklinger Hütte in Germany, and currently at the Xela Institute of Art in Los Angeles). He has been collaborating with Galerie Lazarew (Paris) since 2011, and has also collaborated with the Alliance Française in Morocco and Brazil. A steel sculpture of his was acquired by the City of Paris art collection and is on permanent display in the courtyard of the 13th arrondissement town hall (2026). He was awarded the visual arts prize by the Charles Oulmont Foundation in 2016.
