SHEPARD FAIREY

Shepard Fairey is a contemporary street artist, graphic designer, activist and founder of the clothing brand OBEY as well as the creative agency Studio Number One. In 1989, while studying for his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration at the Rhode Island School of Design, Shepard Fairey created the sticker "Andre the Giant has a Posse", which then evolved into an OBEY GIANT art campaign. In 2008, his portrait of the Democratic candidate of the time, Barack Obama, became an internationally recognized emblem of hope. He is also known for the "We The People" campaign, launched during women's marches in 2017 around the world. Fairey has painted more than 135 public murals, becoming one of the most sought-after and provocative artists in the world, changing the way people converse about art and perceive the urban landscape.
